About me
I am a student currently at Norwich University Of The Arts studying a BSc in Games Development.I really enjoy the technicality that goes into videogames. This is because although I am not so great at art, I believe that some of the very best games need solid programming and general mechanics to work as the creatives intended.

Graphics & Blockouts
This contains multiple projects that I did in my first year of college. It contains a block-out environment of a cobbled street, some graphics I did for advertising a game, Some texturing work I did, some modelling I did for a travelling merchant with his cart, and some UI/logo work in my games theory lessons.
Games and Environments
Project: Viking Environment
This project was for an environment that had two physical areas that are on different levels. For this environment I really wanted to create something that looked nice in the engine that I enjoyed using (Unreal Engine 5.)I decided to do a Viking inspired environment with a river flowing through it. This means that I could pick some nice trees that would be found in a Viking setting, as well as some ruins that are meant to signify the old civilisation that once roamed the area.We were also required to include an easter egg which I added in the second higher area of the environment. This is also where I put my Mace animation.
See videos and photos of the environment below.
Game: Mystic Escape
This is a project for an escape game. The main brief for this game was that there needs to be a timer, making a sense of urgency for the player's escape. My idea for the game was to have a mystical forest where the player has to follow the different coloured mushrooms that guide them to each level. After guiding each player, if they manage to escape with time left then they win the game. This was my first proper game made in Unreal Engine 5. Sadly because of hardware limitations, the final game didn't look very good visually. I had some lighting issues. Below you can find photos/videos of the game.
Project: Mace weapon animation
This project is for a mace animation that was then to be used for the Viking environment I created. Firstly using Autodesk Maya, I created the models and animated them. The idea was the chest would drop open, and the mace would come out and put itself together in the air. Although the textures are not advanced, I believe that the end result looks good. After making the animation in Maya, we had to export them and then try and integrate them into a game engine of our choice (I chose Unreal Engine 5.) In this game engine the animation then needed to have a trigger the player could use to start the animation. This you can see in the video below, as well as images of the creation process.
Project: C++ Text Adventure game
This is one of the first projects I was given to do for university. The idea for this project was more about learning C++ then it is to make a ground-breaking game. While making this game we are also learning C++ in university at the same time. This makes it quite challenging when making a game alongside it but I found it really fun and interesting. I really enjoyed learning and using C++ with this project.I haven't put all of the images of the programming I have done as that would take up a lot of room. Use the GitHub above or go to my blog (If my blog is still up) to look at the program and maybe even try it for yourself.
Project: Cyberpunk Card Game
This is a second project that I was assigned for my first unit in my first year of university. We had to make a board game in a team. I was in a group of two and me and my team mate decided to create a cyberpunk themed card game. This is because we both like Sci-Fi and thought a cyberpunk themed card game could be a bit of fun.In this project we needed to make the game itself with a physical prototype. We needed to make a pitch that we presented and a journal to reflect on our week to week work. We also had a crowdfunding campaign document. This is a document we treated like a Kick Starter which is full of advertising and ways to try and entice people to want to play/buy our game.
Above you can see the different cards that were made for this project. We used AI art to generate the cards. Although this can be seen as controversial to some, this was not created in a way to make money, and the AI was simply used to replace an artist that we would normally have in a real life situation. Either way I think the AI did a very good job. On the right you can see the backs of the cards which were also generated using AI.
Fear The Fire
This is one of the two main projects in my second unit in my first year of university.
We had to solo dev a game in unreal engine using blueprints to show off a knowledge in progression theory. We basically had to make a game that had the player feel like they were progressing and getting somewhere and the player has a certain finish and end.My Idea for the game was to make a horror game. As I thought that would be an interesting idea to cover and it shouldn't be too technically difficult as I was still quite new to unreal. The game has the player use a flashlight to navigate a maze-like level with twists and turns that contain an overall puzzle with some platforming. There is an enemy in the game also called flames. They come in many different shapes and sizes and you need to avoid them at all costs.
The itch page for my game is below.Fear The Fire Itch pageThis project was really fun, and I would say overall across the year I learnt the most from this project when it comes to technical knowledge in a game engine.
